Height check
1. Check that the height of the clutch pedal H1 from the top surface of the floor panel is within the specified range.
Pedal height H1:
160-169 mm (left hand drive, CR/HR engines)
164-174 mm (right hand drive, CR engine)
175-185 mm (right hand drive, HR engine)
2. If the clutch pedal height is abnormal, replace the clutch pedal assembly.
3. Make sure the free play «A» on the pedal shoe and the pedal height H2 when the pedal is depressed are within the normal range, as indicated below.
free running «A» on pedal shoe: 0.5 mm
Pedal height H2 with clutch disengaged: 100mm or more (CR engine)
4. If free play «A» on the pedal block and the height of the pedal H2 when the pedal is depressed are different from the norm, replace the clutch pedal assembly.
Free play check
Depress the clutch pedal with your hand until you feel some resistance. Using a ruler, check that the free play is within the normal range.
Pedal free travel: 0.5mm
Gap check
1. Start the engine and let it run at idle speed.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Press the brake pedal.
4. Fully depress the clutch pedal and shift into 1st gear.
5. Gradually release the clutch pedal. Use a straightedge to check the clearance between the clutch pedal and floor panel and make sure it is within specification.
Pedal height with clutch disengaged: 100mm or more (CR engine).
Note: The pedal height when disengaging the clutch varies slightly depending on the clutch engagement point. Despite this, in order to simplify the check in both cases, the height of the pedal when the clutch is engaged is used.
