Removing
1. Remove the upper part of the intake manifold. See section «upper intake manifold».
2. Remove the ignition coil. See section «Ignition coil».
3. Remove a rack of the right support of the engine. See section «Complete engine».
Note: It is not necessary to support the engine with a jack.
4. Remove the protective trim from the fuel tube. See section «Fuel injectors and fuel pipe».
5. Disconnect the PCV hose from the valve cover.
6. If necessary, remove the PCV valve.
7. Loosen the mounting bolts in the reverse order of the illustration on the next page.
Note: The #13 and #14 bolts shown in the illustration are for attaching the fuel pipe guard.
8. Remove the gasket from the valve cover.
9. Remove the remnants of the old sealant from the cylinder head and front cover.
Installation
1. Install the valve cover as follows:
- A. Install the valve cover gasket
Check for damage or foreign particles.
Make sure the gasket is firmly seated in the groove in the valve cover.
To prevent the gasket from falling out, press it into the lugs of the two valve cover bolt holes.
- b. Apply sealant to the places indicated in the figure
1. Cylinder head
2. Front cover
Use branded sealant or equivalent.
- With. Install the valve cover to the cylinder head.
Caution: Check to see if the valve cover gasket has fallen out of the groove.
- d. Tighten the bolts in two passes in the order indicated by the numbers in the figure.
Note: The #13 and #14 bolts shown in the illustration are for attaching the fuel pipe guard. See section «Components».
2. After this operation, installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
