2. Vehicles with manual transmission (ITUC)
Shift the shift lever to neutral N, fully depress the clutch pedal and start the engine.
Vehicles with automatic transmission (AKP)
Depress the brake pedal and move the selector lever to position P or N. Position P is preferred. There is a starter lock if the selector lever is not in position P or N.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Vehicles equipped with the system «intelligent Key»: Depress the brake pedal, then press the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position.
4. Diesel models: Wait for the glow plug warning light to go out.
5. With the brake pedal depressed, but without touching the accelerator pedal, turn the ignition switch to the START position.
6. Release the switch after starting the engine. If the engine starts and stalls, repeat the above procedure.
For petrol models:
- If the engine is difficult to start in very cold or hot weather, depress the accelerator pedal for easier starting.
- If an engine that has not cooled down is started in the summer (up to 30 minutes after stopping), then the start must be carried out with the accelerator pedal depressed.
Caution: Do not keep the starter engaged for more than 15 seconds at a time. If the engine does not start, turn off the ignition and wait 10 seconds (petrol engine models) or 20 seconds (diesel engine models) before the next start attempt. Otherwise, the starter may be damaged.
7. Warming up the engine. After starting, let the engine idle for at least 30 seconds. The initial leg of the journey should be done at a low speed, especially in cold weather.
