Backlash, clearance and damage to fasteners and joints
Raise the vehicle and check the following:
- Check for play, play, and damage at the attachment points of all components,
- Check the play in the lower ball joint
1. Fasten the indicator so that its sensitive head touches the brake caliper.
2. Set the front wheels to straight ahead. Do not press the brake pedal.
3. Measure the end play by placing a pry bar or similar tool between the control arm and steering knuckle.
Standard
Axial play: 0 mm
Caution: Do not damage the ball joint boot.
4. If the end play is greater than normal, remove the transverse arm and check the lower ball joint.
