Components
1. Cotter pin; 2. The switch of lanterns of a stoplight; 3. Clamp; 4. Brake pedal assembly; 5. Pin
Attention:
- Do not deform the brake pipe.
- When removing and installing, do not strike the brake pedal assembly against adjacent components.
Removing
1. Remove the trim from the bottom of the dashboard. See chapter Body.
2. Take out a clip of electroconducting and disconnect a socket from a pedal of an accelerator. See chapter Accelerator, fuel, exhaust systems.
3. Disconnect the connector from the brake light switch and unscrew the brake light switch from the brake pedal assembly (rotate 45°).
3. Remove the cotter pin and pin from the brake booster earring.
4. Unscrew the fixing nuts of the pedal and remove the brake pedal assembly from the vehicle by sliding the master cylinder and brake booster towards the engine compartment and being careful not to deform the brake pipe.
6. Remove the accelerator pedal from the brake pedal assembly.
Check after removal
Check for warping, damage or cracks in the welded areas. If abnormality is found, replace the brake pedal.
Attention: The brake pedal is equipped with an emergency system that works in the event of a collision.
In the event of a severe collision and the system is activated, the brake pedal axle will shift back, causing the brake pedal pad to move into the footwell away from the driver.
If a shear rivet breaks as a result of a collision (2) emergency system (left hand drive models), replace the pedal assembly.
In the event of a severe collision and the system is triggered, the brake pedal axle (1) moves backward, causing the brake pedal pad to move into the footwell away from the driver.
If a shear rivet breaks as a result of a collision (1) emergency system (right hand drive models) or the locking sliding plate is unlocked (2), replace the pedal assembly.
Installation
For tightening torques, see section «Components». Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
After installing the brake pedal assembly to the vehicle, adjust it. See section «Brake pedal».
