1. When measuring voltage, wrap the tip of the negative probe with tin foil. Then press the foil against the wire with your finger.
2. Connect tester probes (within voltage measurement range) to the center of each wire.
3. If the wire is burned out, the tester will show 0 or battery-voltage.
4. To find the burnt spot, move the tester left and right along the wire until you reach the point where the tester needle deviates sharply.
