Examination
Oil leak
Check for oil leaks in and around the transfer case (oil seal, crankcase drain plug, etc.)
Oil level
1. Remove the plug (1) from the filler hole and remove the gasket. Check oil level (A) through the hole for the filler plug.
2. Install a new gasket over the filler plug. Screw the plug into the transfer case and tighten to the required torque.
- Do not reuse the gasket.
Drain
1. Drive the vehicle and warm up the transfer case housing to normal operating temperature.
2. Stop the engine and remove the plug (1) from the drain hole, remove the gasket and drain the oil from the transfer case.
- Do not remove the plug (2) from the hole to check the contact patch.
3. Place a new gasket on the drain plug.
- Screw the plug into the transfer case and tighten to the required torque. Do not reuse the gasket.
Refueling
1. Remove the plug (1) from the filler hole and remove the gasket. Fill oil to the specified level at the hole (A) under the traffic jam.
Oil grade and viscosity: See chapter.
Maintenance.
Oil filling capacity: See below section «Technical data and specifications».
Add oil slowly (approx. 3 minutes).
2. Wait 3 minutes and check the oil level again.
3. Place a new gasket on the filler plug. Screw the plug into the transfer case and tighten to the required torque.
- Do not reuse the gasket.
