Checking the ignition timing

The following describes how to check the ignition timing. When actually performing the procedure, follow the instructions in paragraph. «Basic checks» higher.

Using the CONSULT-III tester

1. Connect the strobe to the wire (1) ignition coil of cylinder No. 1, as shown in the figure.



2. Switch the ECM to Diagnostic Test Mode II (maintaining ignition timing).

3. Check the ignition timing.
