Oil pump 1. Front cover (integrated with oil pump housing); 2. Outer gear; 3. Internal gear; 4. Oil pump cover; 5. Pressure reducing valve; 6. Reducing valve spring; 7. Reducing valve plug.
Disassembly and assembly
Disassembly
1. Remove the oil pump cover.
2. Remove the inner and outer oil pump gears from the front cover.
3. After unscrewing the pressure reducing valve plug, remove the spring and valve.
Assembly
Assembly is performed in the reverse order of disassembly, taking into account the following.
- Install the inner and outer gears with the stamped marks on the side of the oil pump cover.
Check after disassembly
Clearances between oil pump components
- Measure the gap using a feeler gauge. Gap between outer gear and front cover (position «1»).
Standard: See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications».
- Gap between the teeth of the outer and inner gears of the oil pump (position «2»).
Standard: See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications».
- Measure the gap using a feeler gauge and ruler.
Side clearance between inner gear and front cover (position «3»).
Side clearance between outer gear and front cover (position «4»).
Standard: See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications».
- Calculate the clearance between the inner gear and the oil pump housing as follows.
Inner diameter of the front cover. Using a micrometer, measure the outer diameter of the raised portion of the inner gear (position «5»).
Removal and installation
Removal
Remove the front cover. See chapter «Mechanical part of the engine».
Note. The oil pump is built into the front cover.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- When installing, align the flats of the crankshaft with the flats of the oil pump inner gear.
Outer diameter of the oil pump inner gear.
Using a bore gauge, measure the inside diameter of the front cover (after getting married «6»).
Gap between oil pump inner gear and front cover (Gap) = (front cover inner diameter) - (oil pump inner gear outer diameter).
Standard: See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications»
- If the measured/calculated clearance is abnormal, replace the front cover.
Reducing valve clearance
(Gap) = (valve hole diameter) - (valve outer diameter).
Standard: See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications».
- If the measured/calculated clearance is abnormal, replace the front cover.
Attention:
- Apply engine oil to the relief valve.
- Make sure that the valve moves freely into the valve hole under its own weight.
Check after installation
1. Check the oil level. See above.
2. Start the engine and check for engine oil leaks.
3. Stop the engine and wait 10 minutes.
4. Check the oil level and adjust it to normal. See above.
