Attention. Carry out the test with the engine not running.
- Make sure the pointer (notch on the fixed part) on the automatic drive belt tensioner is within the range of possible operation (between four notches on the moving part).
Note:
- Check the location of the automatic tensioner indicator on a cold engine.
- When installing a new drive belt, the indicator (notch on the fixed part) must be within range (WITH) in the picture.
- Visually inspect the entire belt to ensure there is no wear, damage or cracks.
- If the pointer (notch on the fixed part) is outside the permissible operating range or the belt is damaged, replace the drive belt.
Tension adjustment
See below.
Removal and installation
Removal
1. Remove the front right wheel.
2. Remove the protective trim from the right front fender. See chapter "Interior and exterior equipment".
3. Securely fix the automatic tensioner by the hexagonal part in the center of the pulley with a wrench. Turn the key handle in the direction of the arrow (tensioner loosening direction).
Attention:
- Do not place your hand in a place where it could become pinched if the locking tool accidentally comes off.
- Do not loosen the hex part in the center of the auto tensioner pulley (do not turn it counterclockwise). Otherwise, the automatic drive belt tensioner will have to be replaced along with the pulley.
4. Insert a rod approximately 6 mm in diameter, eg a short screwdriver, into the hole in the retaining lug and secure the automatic tensioner pulley.
5. Sequentially loosen the drive belt, starting with the water pump pulley, and remove it.
Installation
2. Insert a rod with a diameter of approx. 6 mm e.g. a short screwdriver into the hole in the retaining lug and fix the automatic tensioner pulley.
3. Place the drive belt on all pulleys except the water pump. Finally, place the belt on the water pump pulley.
Attention:
- Make sure the belt is completely seated on the pulleys.
- Make sure that the drive belt and pulley grooves are free of engine oil, fluids, and engine coolant.
4. Release the tensioner and tighten the belt.
5. Rotate the crankshaft pulley clockwise several times and equalize the tension between all pulleys.
6. Make sure the belt tension is as indicated (notch on the fixed part) is within the permissible operating range. See above.
