Thermostat 1. Thermostat housing; 2. Clamp (on models with CVT); 3. Water hose (on models with CVT); 4. Heater thermostat (on models with CVT); 5. Water hose (on models with CVT); 6. Radiator hose (lower); 7. Clamp; 8. Inlet pipe; 9. Thermostat; 10. Rubber ring; 11. Gasket; A. To the CVT fluid radiator; B. To the radiator; C. To the oil cooler.
Removal and installation
Removal
1. Drain the engine coolant from the radiator. See above.
Attention. Perform this operation when the engine is cold.
2. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. See chapter «Electrical equipment».
3. Apply a mark with paint, then disconnect the radiator hose (lower) from the inlet pipe. See above.
4. Remove the inlet pipe and thermostat.
- Coolant will flow out of the cylinder block, so place a container.
5. Remove the thermostat housing as follows.
A. Remove the water pump. See above
b. Remove the generator. See chapter «Electrical equipment».
With. Disconnect the water hoses.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
Thermostat
- Install the thermostat so that the flange parts (A) securely fastened around the entire perimeter inside the rubber ring (1).
- Install a thermostat (1) bypass valve (A) up.
2. Thermostat housing
Check after removal
Thermostat
- Tie a thread (A) so that it is secured to the thermostat valves (1). Immerse them completely in the container (IN) with water. Heat by shaking.
- The valve opening temperature is the temperature at which the valve opens and falls off the string.
- Continue heating. Check the lift height when fully opened.
- After checking the lift height when fully opened, reduce the water temperature and check the valve closing temperature.
Standard: See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications».
- If the measured values differ from the norm, replace the thermostat.
Heater thermostat (on models with CVT)
- Turn the heater thermostat all the way down (1) into container (A) with water. Heat by shaking.
- Continue heating the heater thermostat for 5 minutes or more after the water boils.
- Quickly remove the heater thermostat from the water and take a measurement for 10 seconds.
- Secure the indicator (A) on a cylindrical part (IN) and measure the elongation relative to the original state.
Standard: See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications»
- If the measured value differs from the norm, replace the heater thermostat
Check after installation
- Check for coolant leakage by applying pressure using an adapter (suitable special tools) and pump (suitable special tools). See above.
- Start the engine and warm it up. Carry out a visual inspection to ensure there are no coolant leaks.
