Using other types of engine coolant may damage the cooling system.
The ambient air temperature drops to, C | Mixture ratio
Engine coolant (concentrated) | Desalted or distilled water
-15 | 30% | 70% |
-35 | 50% | 50% |
When checking the engine coolant mixture ratio with a hydrometer, use the table below to correct the hydrometer reading (specific gravity) depending on the coolant temperature.
Specific gravity of coolant solution
Unit of measurement: g/cm.
The ratio of components in the engine coolant mixture | Coolant temperature,°C
15 | 25 | 35 | 45 | |
30% | 1.046-1.050 | 1.042-1.046 | 1.038-1.042 | 1.033-1.038 |
50% | 1.076-1.080 | 1.070-1.076 | 1.065-1.071 | 1.059-1.065 |
Attention. Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. High-pressure fluid can splash out of the radiator and cause serious burns. Wait until the engine and radiator cool down.
