Disassembly and assembly. 1. Outer tip; 2. Outer tip locknut; 3. Inner tip; 4. Case clamp (from the narrow side); 5. Case; 6. Case clamp (from the wide side); 7. Steering mechanism assembly.
Disassembly
1. Loosen the outer tie rod end locknut and remove the outer tie rod end.
Attention. When loosening the locknut, secure the outer joint with a wrench or similar tool to prevent the ball joint from contacting the steering knuckle.
2. Remove the clips from the boot, then remove the boot from the inner tip.
Attention. When removing the covers, be careful not to damage the inner tip and steering gear housing assembly. If they are damaged, they should be replaced to prevent foreign particles from entering the liquid.
3. Remove the inner end from the steering gear housing assembly.
Assembly
1. Insert the inner end into the steering gear housing assembly.
2. Apply the recommended lubricant to the inner tip.
3. Set the steering rack to the neutral position.
Standard.
Neutral position of the rack «L»: See section below «Technical data and specifications».
4. Place the boot on the steering gear housing assembly and inner end.
5. Using a crimping tool for case clamps (A) (special tool: KV40107300), secure the wide side of the cover with a clamp (1).
Attention. Insert the clamp firmly (1) into the groove on the wide side of the cover and crimp so that the gap (IN) became 3mm or less as shown in the figure.
6. Secure the narrow side of the cover with a clip.
7.Adjust the length of the inner tip to the standard value «L», then tighten the locknut to the required torque. Check the length of the inner tip again «L» and make sure it's ok.
Standard.
Inner tip length «L»: See section below «Technical data and specifications».
Attention:
- After this procedure, perform toe adjustment. The length obtained after adjusting the toe does not have to be equal to the value given here.
- When loosening the locknut, secure the outer joint with a wrench or similar tool to prevent the ball joint from contacting the steering knuckle.
