Removal
Wheel hub and wheel bearing assembly
1. Remove the wheels from the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheel sensor from the axle housing. See chapter «Brake system».
3. Remove the mounting bolts from the caliper bracket. Hang the caliper bracket so that it does not interfere with your work. See chapter «Brake system».
Attention. Do not press the brake pedal after removing the brake caliper.
4. Remove the brake disc. See chapter «Brake system».
Attention:
- Before removing the brake rotor, make alignment marks on the brake rotor and on the wheel hub and wheel bearing assembly.
- Don't drop the brake disc.
Rear wheel hub and rear axle housing. 1. Rear axle housing; 2. Suspension arm; 3. Mud deflector shield; 4. Wheel hub and wheel bearing assembly; 5. Cotter pin.
5. Remove the cotter pin, then loosen the hub locknut.
6. Separate the wheel hub and wheel bearing assembly from the drive shaft by lightly tapping the end with a hammer, using a wooden block, then unscrew the hub locknut.
Attention:
- Do not bend the drive shaft joint to a large angle. Also, do not overextend the sliding joint.
- Do not drop the drive shaft. Support the drive shaft with the housing, joint assembly, shaft, etc.
Note. If after following this procedure you cannot separate the wheel hub and wheel bearing assembly from the drive shaft, use a suitable puller.
7. Remove the wheel hub and wheel bearing assembly.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Check after removal
Check the wheel hub and wheel bearing assembly for wear, cracks and damage. Replace if necessary.
Check after installation
Check the rear wheel alignment. See below.
