Removal
1. Remove the wheels from the vehicle.
2. Separate the wishbone from the steering knuckle.
3. Remove the wishbone from the suspension beam.
Note. The wishbone prevents the removal of the mounting bolt () transverse link on the rear mounting section at the front of the car, which rests on the stabilizer bar. Therefore, to remove the wishbone, remove the stabilizer bar.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
Perform final tightening of all bolts and nuts on the front suspension beam in an unloaded condition with the vehicle's wheels on the ground.
Check after removal.
Visual inspection
Check the following:
- Check the wishbone and bushing for deformation, cracks or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Check the ball joint boot for cracks or other damage and for leaking grease. Replace if necessary.
Checking the ball joint
Move the ball joint tip by hand to make sure it moves freely without binding.
Checking the swing moment
Note. Before measuring, move the ball joint tip at least ten times by hand to make sure it moves freely.
Hook the dynamometer (A) for the mounting hole for the cotter pin. Make sure the dynamometer reading is within the normal range when the ball joint tip begins to move.
Standard.
Rocking moment: See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications».
Dynamometer reading: See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications».
If the measured value is abnormal, replace the control arm assembly.
Checking axial play
- Move the ball joint tip axially and check the play.
Standard.
Axial play. See paragraph below. «Technical data and specifications».
- If there is play, replace the transverse arm assembly.
Check after installation
1. Check the angles of the front wheels. See above.
2. Adjust the neutral position of the steering angle sensor. See chapter «Brake system».
