1. Apply the handbrake, set the lever to position "R", lift up the front of the car.
2. Remove the spring clamp and disconnect the cable from the gear selection lever.
3. Loosen the adjuster locknuts or remove the spring clamp to release the cable from the transmission hanger, or simply unscrew the bolt from the hanger.
4. Release the cable from the hangers along its entire length.
5. Unscrew the rear cable adjuster locknut ("X", Pic. 7.10), remove the cable from the car.
6. Disconnect the shift rod from the base of the selector lever assembly.
7. Remove the spring clamp, disconnect the gear shift rod from the lower end of the selection lever.
8. Before assembly, lubricate the entire length of the cable, lugs and pins, adjuster threads and other contact points.
9. Connect the shift rod to the selector lever.
10. Connect the cable to the transmission hanger and the selector lever, check that the lever is in position "R", then thread the cable into the hangers.
11. Screw in the front locknut of the cable adjuster ("Y", Pic. 7.10) pass the end of the cable through the shift rod as far as possible, install the rear adjuster locknut ("X", Pic. 7.10).
12. Adjust the mechanism as described above.
