Note: The amount of liquid indicated in this Section is general, i.e. fluid in the torque converter (approximately 2 liters), in part of the radiator heat exchanger and connecting pipes. Most of this fluid can be removed by removing the drain plug. If the transmission is filled after a complete rebuild, the full amount of fluid will be required. If the fluid is changed as a maintenance service, only the fluid contained directly in the transmission will be drained.
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Place the car on a level surface, apply the handbrake, set the lever to position "R", turn off the ignition. Open the hood, remove the dipstick from the pipe.
3. Place a suitable container under the transmission, unscrew the drain plug on the lower front edge of the transmission (see Fig. 7.4). Drain the liquid into a container.

4. Clean and install the drain plug, tighten it with the tightening torque specified in the Specifications.
5. Fill the transmission through the dipstick tube to the upper mark "Cold" on the back of the dipstick.
6. Start the engine and slowly move the selector lever through all positions to distribute the fluid in the transmission. Return the lever to position "R".
7. Check the fluid level according to the marks "Cold" and add if necessary.
8. Drive the car a short distance to fully warm up the engine/gear, check the fluid level on the dipstick using the marks "Hot".
