2. Before checking the switch, always first check that the gear selector mechanism is adjusted correctly.
3.To check the installation of the switch, apply the handbrake, select the 'N' position. Open the hood and check that the transmission selector lever is also in the 'N' position.
4. Take a metal rod (drill) 4mm in diameter, insert it directly into the hole in the selector lever (see fig. 7.12). The rod should fit directly into the switch hole.

5. If the switch is not installed correctly, loosen the three switch mounting screws, install the switch until the rod goes straight through the holes in the arm and switch. Tighten the switch screws, but do not bend them.
6. To check the operation of the switch, disconnect the electrical wiring connector and use a multimeter (in resistance measurement mode) check for contact between the terminals marked when the corresponding gear is engaged (see fig. 7.13).

7. If the switch is in good condition and correctly installed, contact should only occur when the selector lever is in the appropriate position. If the contact remains when the lever is moved significantly to either side from the specified position, check the installation of the switch. If there is any other damage, the switch must be replaced.
