Engine assembly — general description

1. To ensure maximum service life, not only must the engine be correctly assembled, but all parts must be absolutely clean, all lubrication grooves must not be clogged, lock washers and spring washers must always be installed where indicated, and all bearings and other operating surfaces must be completely lubricated during assembly.

2. Before beginning assembly, replace any bolts or posts that have damaged threads and use new lock washers whenever possible.
