The cylinder head is cast from light alloy, the cylinder block is cast iron. The crankshaft is supported by five main bearings.
The oil pump is driven by a timing belt from the crankshaft and supplies all rotating parts with oil, the oil first passes through a full-flow cartridge-type filter. An oil cooler, using coolant from the engine cooling system, is attached to the rear of the cylinder block on the 2.0L turbocharged engine. models with automatic transmission.
