Controlled Deceleration Device (BCDD) — general description

1. This device is installed on engines with manual transmission (photo) and is designed to reduce emissions of hydrocarbons and engine oil vapors during engine braking with the throttle valve closed. With high vacuum in the intake manifold, the system allows additional mixture for complete combustion.



2. On engines with automatic transmission, the BCDD is replaced by a valve activated by the starter inhibitor and the reverse light switch (Section 7) when positions are selected "N" or "R".

3. If the unit is suspected of being damaged, it should be inspected by a Nissan dealer.
