The engine is usually removed along with the gearbox. To remove the engine, a winch of appropriate capacity is required. Open the hood, remove the bolts securing it and remove the hood. Raise the front of the car using a garage lift or jack and place it on rigid supports (if the car is not installed on the inspection hole), secure the rear wheels using stops. Remove the battery, keeping in mind that disconnecting the battery cancels the automatic tuning of the radio to a specific station and erases the data in the engine fault diagnostic device, if such a device is installed. Remove the engine protective shield. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. To do this, remove the radiator and expansion tank caps, set the heater control lever to position «NOT» and remove the radiator and cylinder block drain plugs. To avoid damaging the radiator, when unscrewing the cap, use a second wrench to hold the cap fitting soldered into the radiator. To avoid tearing off the edges of the plug, unscrew it with a socket or socket wrench. Drain the oil from the engine crankcase and gearbox by removing the appropriate drain plugs. After draining the oil, thoroughly wipe the plug magnets with a clean cloth and replace the plugs. Disconnect the radiator hoses and remove the radiator and fan. Remove the tips of the internal hinges of the axle shafts from the gearbox of front-wheel drive vehicles and tie the axle shafts so that they do not interfere with engine removal, having first wrapped the cuffs with wiping ends to protect them.
On models with power steering, remove the pump drive belt, unscrew the pump fastening elements, remove the pump with its bracket and hang it in a convenient place without disconnecting the pump hoses.
On models with air conditioning, remove the V-belt driving the air conditioning compressor, disconnect the compressor and hang it in a convenient place without disconnecting the hoses.
On models with a hydraulic clutch, remove the hydraulic cylinder with the hose and also secure it in a convenient place. With the hydraulic drive cylinder removed, do not press the clutch pedal. On models with a cable-operated clutch, disconnect the cable. Disconnect the transmission control rods. Disconnect the exhaust muffler pipe from the exhaust manifold.
Disconnect the electrical wires that prevent the engine from being removed, having previously marked their installation locations (for example, by securing a piece of paper with the appropriate inscription using adhesive tape). Disconnect from the engine hoses and pipelines that prevent the engine from being removed, also first marking their installation locations. Hook the hoist hooks onto the engine's cargo eyes and tighten the hoist chains enough to relieve the engine mounts. Unscrew the engine mount bolts and remove them. Carefully remove the power unit from the engine compartment, gradually lifting it using a hoist.
Install the engine in reverse order. Before installation, be sure to check the condition of the rubber pads. Replace damaged or worn cushions as necessary. To ensure equal elasticity of the engine support elements, it is recommended to replace all rubber cushions at the same time.
