2. Move the heater temperature control lever to the maximum position "Hot".
3. To provide more working space, remove the left front lower protection of the engine compartment by unscrewing five bolts.
4. Remove the radiator cap and place a suitable container under the left side.
5. On radiators with vertical flow, open the drain plug (Pic. 2.3). On cross-flow radiators, loosen the clamp and carefully release the lower hose from the radiator outlet pipe (Pic. 2.4). Drain the refrigerant into a container. If the coolant is old or dirty, remove the bolt from the expansion tank and drain it.

6. On carburetor models, the drain plugs are screwed in front (photo) and for (on later models) cylinder No. 4 in the block. On some models, a second, smaller plug is screwed in ahead of cylinders No. 1 and No. 2. On 2.0 liter fuel injection models, remove the two screws securing the heater and drain the coolant through the heater hose. On Turbo models, the procedure is the same, access behind the turbo generator is extremely limited. Make sure the turbo generator and exhaust system are completely cool before disconnecting the pipe.

7. After draining the refrigerant, flush the system, then refill it.
