On the rear suspension, each strut carries a wheel axle on the lower copy and is located between two parallel cross braces. They rotate on a central cross member, which is attached to the body with four nuts. The rear cross links are adjustable in length. The anti-roll bar is bolted to the body through rubber bushings and links and is linked to each strut assembly.

The steering is rack and pinion. Some 1.6 liter models have a mechanical steering gear, all others have a power steering system. This system includes an eccentric vane pump, which is mounted at the rear of the cylinder block and driven by a belt from the crankshaft, a feed reservoir, hoses and pipes. The tilt-adjustable steering column has an impact absorber to protect the driver in the event of a collision.

The steering gear, which is clamped by two rubber bushings to the front of the bulkhead, is connected by tie rods with internal and external ball joints to the front wheel steering knuckles.
