Check and maintain correct tire pressure regularly. Carry out the check on cold tires. If the tire pressure is checked while the tires are hot, there may be increased pressure due to expansion from high temperature.
Insufficient pressure causes the tires to overheat due to excessive casing flexion and the tread will not sit properly on the road surface. This results in loss of traction and excessive wear.
Overinflating will cause the tire's center tread to wear out quickly and result in reduced traction and a rougher ride.
Periodically remove the wheels and clean any dirt on the inner and outer surfaces. Check the inside side surfaces of the wheel rim for rust, corrosion or other damage such as cracks around the strut holes.
Balance each wheel and tire assembly to avoid excessive wear not only on the tires, but also on the suspension and steering components. Wheel imbalance is usually accompanied by body vibration, in many cases this is especially noticeable through the steering wheel. Wear or damage in suspension or steering components can cause excessive tire wear.
Wheel balancing can be done on the vehicle or separately. If balancing is performed on a vehicle, mark the location of the wheel on the hub before removing the wheel so that it can be reattached in the same position.
Front tires may wear unevenly as a result of wheel wear. The front wheels must always be correctly installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
