Impact plate
1. Open the trunk lid (or back door).
2. On Hatchback models not equipped with a remote tailgate release lever, remove the two brackets and panel to access the strike plate (see photo).

3. On all other models, remove the luggage compartment interior trim panel (see Chapter 33), then unscrew the bolt from the cable and disconnect it (where is it equipped).
4. Remove the bolt from the impact plate.
5. When reassembling, tighten the mounting bolts and position the strike plate so that it is directly in the center of the bolt and the trunk lid is properly connected to the body. Tighten the mounting bolts securely.
6. Adjust the opening cable (where is it equipped) moving the tip until the specified play is reached (see fig. 11.12 or 11.13). Tighten the bolt securely and check the operation of the cable.

7. Check the fit of the rear door/trunk lid and ensure that the lock operates correctly.
Valve - Sedan
8. Open the trunk lid and unscrew the bolt from the latch (pic. 11.14).

9. When reassembling, ensure that the latch operates correctly and is centered on the strike plate when the trunk lid is closed. Tighten the bolts securely.
Gate valve - Hatchback
10. Open the rear door and remove the interior trim panel (see Chapter 33 of this Section).
11. Remove the bracket securing the lock rod to the valve, then unscrew the bolt and remove it (see photo).

12. When reassembling, lightly lubricate the bolt and its tip, check that the bolt is centered on the strike plate when the tailgate is closed, then tighten the bolts securely. Connect the lock rod to the bolt and restore the bracket.
