Dual Switch Adjustment
1. switch lever; 2. Transmission selector lever; 3. Adjustment holes; 4. Drill bit 4 mm
The switch is screwed into the front of the transmission housing and has two functions - preventing the starter from engaging only in selector positions N or P, and turning on the reverse signal in selector position R.
Examination
1. If the starter engages in positions other than N or P, then the switch is faulty or out of adjustment.
2. If the rear light does not turn on, then the switch must be checked.
3. Raise the front of the car and place on stands.
4. Disconnect the connector from the switch.
5. Check the resistance between the terminals in selector positions N, P or R. A good switch has contacts 1 and 2 closed in selector positions N and P, and contacts 3 and 4 are closed in selector position R.
6. If these contacts do not close, then loosen the mounting bolts and adjust the switch.
7. If the adjustment does not work, replace the switch.
Removing
1. Raise the front of the car and place on stands.
2. Disconnect the connector.
3. Turn away three bolts, get the switch from the mechanism of the selector.
Installation
1. Install the switch, tighten the bolts.
2. Move the selector to position N.
3. Insert a 4 mm drill into the hole in the top of the selector and thread it into the hole in the selector lever.
4. Tighten the bolts and remove the drill.
5. Connect the wires and check the operation of the switch.
