1. It is recommended to disassemble the engine on a special stand.
2. If there is no stand, then fix the engine on a flat area.
3. If a rebuilt engine is purchased, then all attachments must be removed, and subsequently installed in exactly the same order as with an independent overhaul. For such units (see fig. Cylinder block, crankshaft and connecting rod and piston group) relate:
- alternator and power steering pump brackets and (or) air conditioner compressor (depending on configuration);
- ignition distributor, spark plugs and high-voltage wires;
- coolant pump and thermostat and radiator hoses;
- details of the carburetor or fuel injection system;
- all sensors and solenoid valves with wiring;
- suction and exhaust manifolds;
- fuel pump - for carburetor engines;
- engine suspension parts;
- flywheel/torque converter drive plate.
Attention! Before removing attachments, tag gaskets, seals and other parts to facilitate assembly.
4. If an incomplete cylinder block is installed (those. cylinder block with selected and installed crank mechanism and piston group), you must also remove the cylinder head, oil pan, oil pump and chains.
5. If it is planned to carry out a major overhaul with complete disassembly, then the engine must be completely disassembled in the following order:
- suction and exhaust manifolds;
- oil pan;
- chains and sprockets;
- cylinder head;
- flywheel;
- connecting rod and piston group;
- crankshaft.
6. Before disassembly, prepare the necessary equipment and tools.
