For more detailed information on the ignition system, see subsection 7.7.
The fuel injection system works as follows:
The fuel pump, located in the fuel tank, supplies fuel from the fuel tank to the fuel manifold through a filter mounted on the rear wall of the engine compartment.
The pressure in the fuel system is controlled by a pressure regulator that is mounted on the side of the fuel rail.
The pressure regulator rises so that excess fuel can return to the fuel tank when the pressure in the fuel system exceeds the optimum.
Tetraethyl lead-free gasoline
The fuel recommended for use is listed in the specifications section (see subsection 6.3.2.1).
For all Nissan Sunny models, it is recommended to use gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 95 (research method).
For all models with a catalytic converter, only tetraethyl lead-free gasoline must be used.
Do not use gasoline containing tetraethyl lead as this may damage the catalytic converter.
On models without a catalytic converter, both types of fuel can be used.
