Removing
1. Remove the cylinder head.
2. Remove valves.
3. Remove the valve stem caps. Removal requires pliers. For engines with bucket tappets, workshops use special tools. Old caps sit, as a rule, very firmly. Therefore, an impact puller should be used whenever possible for removal.
Attention! Do not use a screwdriver to remove, as the seat of the cap can be damaged.
Installation
1. Before installing the valves, check the valve guides and possibly machine or lap the valve seats.
2. Lightly grease new valve stem caps (3) and put on the valve guides (4).
3. Fit the cap with a suitable mandrel (1) all the way (2 - valve spring plate). Distance 5 should be: 15.2 mm.
Attention! If there is no special mandrel, install the cap with a hammer and a suitable tube. The tube must have the same diameter as the cap and must not have sharp edges.
4. Insert valve springs with upper and lower poppets and compress. The narrow end of the spring must face the cylinder head.
5. Insert the conical crackers, release the valve springs.
6. Replace all valve stem caps in the same manner.
7. Install valves.
8. Install the cylinder head.
