1. Disconnect the tie rod.
2. Loosen the tie rod lock nut.
3. Mark the position of the edge of the cover on the rail and unclench the spring rings, remove the cover.
4. Thoroughly clean the rack and crankcase of the mechanism from dirt and grease.
5. Lubricate the inner hinge with grease from the old cover (if the cover shows no signs of damage).
6. Put on a new cover, align the edge with the mark on the rail and secure with a new spring ring.
7. Close the locknut.
8. Attach the tie rod.
