1. If there is a deep dent on the body, first of all, it must be bent so that the surface takes almost its original shape.
2. It does not make sense to try to restore the exact original shape, since the metal in the damaged area has been stretched upon impact and cannot be restored to the exact original shape.
3. It is best to restore the surface so that the depth of the dent does not exceed 3 mm.
4. If the dent is not deep, you should not try to bend it at all.
5. If there is access to the reverse side of the deformed surface, you can try to restore its shape with a mallet with a soft head.
6. At the same time, attach a wooden block to the front surface of the body in order to accumulate impact energy and prevent bulges.
In case the dent is in an area of the body with a cover panel on the inside, or something else makes this area inaccessible from the inside, the following method must be applied.
1. Drill a few small holes in the metal inside the indented area - especially in the deepest part.
2. Then, drive the long self-tapping screws into the holes just enough to hold them firmly in the metal.
3. The dent can now be pulled out by pulling on the screw heads with pliers.
4. The next step is to remove the paint from the damaged area, as well as from an area a few centimeters around, using an emery nozzle or a wire brush mounted on a drill.
5. If you do not have these tools, you can use sandpaper.
6. To finish preparing to apply the primer, scratch the surface of the metal with a screwdriver or the corner of a file, or drill small holes in the damaged area.
7. This will ensure good adhesion of the primer.
8. To complete the repair, follow the steps described in subsection 13.3.4.
