Examination
The check should be carried out with a cold engine or approximately 30 minutes after stopping it.
Visually check for damage on the outer and inner sides of the belt along its entire length.
When using special dynamometers, take measurements at the places marked with a ▼ in the figure. If for some reason it is not possible to make measurements at the indicated points, take measurements in places as close as possible to the required ones.
To measure deflection of belts, apply a force of 98 N (10 kg) in the places indicated by ▼ in the figure.
Attention: After installing the drive belts, to avoid slack and slackening, turn the crankshaft several times, then measure the deflection of the belts again and adjust their tension.
Adjustment
Attention:
After replacing the belt with a new one, slightly increase the tension of the new belt compared to the old one to allow for the running in of the new belt.
If the belt deflection is greater than normal, adjust the belt tension.
Make sure the belt is properly seated in the pulley grooves.
Make sure that there are no traces of grease or coolant on the belt.
Do not bend or twist the belt with excessive force.
Before adjusting the steering pump belt and water pump, remove the cotter pin to release the bolt. After adjustment, secure the bolt tightly with a cotter pin.
Alternator and A/C Compressor Belt
1. Remove the right mudguard.
2. Loosen the lock bolt (A) alternator belt adjuster.
3. Loosen the locknut of the set bolt (IN) generator.
4. Adjust the belt tension with the bolt (WITH) generator.
Adjustment values - see above.
5. Tighten the nut (IN) and bolt (A):
Bolt A:
: 15,7-21,6 N-m (1.6-2.2 kg m)
Nut B:
: 45,1 -59,8 N-m (4.6-6.1 kg m)
Steering pump and water pump belt
1. Remove the right mudguard.
2. Loosen the lock bolt (D) belt adjuster.
2. Loosen the fixing bolt (E) steering pump.
3. Adjust the belt tension with the bolt (F) steering pump.
Adjustment values - see above.
4. Tighten the bolt (E) and bolt (D):
Bolt D:
: 15,7-21,6 N-m (1.6-2.2 kg m)
Bolt E:
: 45,1-59,8 N-m (4.6-6.1 kg m)
