Removing
1. Remove the engine and transmission assembly from the vehicle. Separate the gearbox from the engine.
2. Install the engine on a special stand (special tool), see section «Cylinder block».
3. Drain the oil through the drain hole in the oil pan.
4. Remove the following parts:
- valve cover
- camshafts
- Cylinder head assembly
- oil pan (upper and lower)
- Coarse oil filter
5. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
With stop plate (special tool) fix the drive plate, then loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt.
Screw in the puller bolts (special tool) into the pulley holes and remove the pulley. (Bolt dimensions: M6x1.0, length approx. 40 mm).
Note: If the crankshaft pulley is removed on a vehicle, remove the pulley bolts as follows:
1) Remove drive belts.
2) Support the engine with a jack and remove the center support beam (see below).
3) Remove the rear cover located at the junction of the oil pan with the gearbox.
4) Using a flat screwdriver, fix the ring gear and unscrew the crankshaft pulley bolts.
5) With a puller (special tool) remove the crankshaft pulley.
6. Remove the front cover. If the front oil seal needs to be replaced, pry it up with a flathead screwdriver as shown in the illustration.
7. Remove the timing chain guide at the deflection point, the timing chain guide at the tension point, the oil pump drive bush and the crankshaft sprocket.
