If the secondary timing chain is removed to remove the injection pump, see the preparatory work above in the section «injection pump with electronic control».
If the secondary timing chain is being removed to remove the camshaft, see section below «camshafts».
1. Remove the front chain cover.
Remove the power steering reservoir from the bracket.
Loosen and remove the set screws in the reverse order of the illustration.
Because there is not enough space to remove bolts 6,10 and 11, remove these bolts together with rubber washers.
Attention:
When removing the chain front cover, cover the open holes so that no foreign matter enters the engine.
Do not remove dampers installed on the back of the cover (in two places).
2. Set the piston of the first cylinder to the TDC position of the compression stroke.
By turning the crankshaft clockwise, set the marks on the camshaft sprockets in accordance with the figure.
Note:
There is no timing mark on the crankshaft pulley.
The secondary timing chain is installed by matching the colored links, so there is no particular need to mark before removing the chain, however, due to the fact that the marks on the injection pump sprockets are poorly visible, it is better to mark.
3. Remove the chain tensioner.
Shoot in the following order.
(1) Press the plunger and secure it with the pin.
(2) Loosen the set screws with a hex wrench (special tool, 5 mm).
4. Remove the chain guide at the point of deflection.
Loosen the set screw with a hex wrench (special tool, 6 mm, short) and remove the chain guide.
5. Remove the chain guide at the tension point.
6. Remove the secondary timing chain.
The chain can be removed without removing the sprockets.
