Ovality and taper of the crankshaft journals

Using a micrometer, measure the diameters of all main and connecting rod journals at 4 different points shown in the figure.



The ovality is determined by the difference in size between the axes A and B at points 1 and 2.

The taper is determined by the difference in size between points 1 and 2 along the axes A and B.

• Limit ovality: 0.003 mm
• Limit taper: 0.003 mm
