Visual inspection of the oil pump
Check for nicks and wear on the inner and outer gears and on the front cover.
If necessary, replace the oil pump assembly.
Checking the gaps in the areas of the oil pump
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance (1) between the outer gear and the oil pump housing.
- Normal clearance: 0.114-0.260mm
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance (2) between the teeth of the outer and inner gears.
- Normal clearance: less than 0.180mm
Using a feeler gauge and ruler, measure the clearance (3) between the oil pump housing and the inner gear.
- Normal gap: 0.050-0.090mm
Using a feeler gauge and ruler, measure the clearance (4) between the oil pump housing and the outer gear.
- Normal clearance: 0.03-0.19mm
If necessary, replace the oil pump assembly.
Clearance in the lower section between the oil pump housing and the inner gear
Using an inside gauge, measure the diameter of the hole (5) at the bottom of the oil pump housing.
Using a micrometer, measure the outer diameter (6) bottom of the inner gear.
(Gap) = (The inner diameter of the lower section of the oil pump housing) - (Outer diameter of the lower section of the internal gear)
- Normal clearance: 0.045-0.091mm
If necessary, replace the oil pump assembly.
Checking the pressure reducing valve
Visually inspect valve components for wear and damage.
Measure the outside diameter of the pressure reducing valve and the inside diameter of the mounting hole.
Calculate the clearance in the pressure reducing valve:
(Gap) = (Valve hole diameter) - (Valve outer diameter)
- Normal gap: 0.04-0.097mm
Checking the free length of pressure reducing valve springs
- Internal spring: 53.6mm
- Outside Spring: 55.4mm
