Disassembly and assembly
Preparatory work
Remove the front cover, see section «Valve train chain» in ch. «Mechanical part of the engine».
Installing the inner and outer gear
Align the gears with the marks towards the oil pump cover.
Examination
Checking clearances in the oil pump area
Clearance between outer gear and front cover
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance (1) between the outer gear and the front cover.
- Normal clearance: 0.114-0.200mm
Gap between the teeth of the outer and inner gears
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance (2) between the teeth of the outer and inner gears.
- Normal clearance: less than 0.180mm
Lateral clearance between front cover and outer and inner gear
Using a feeler gauge and ruler, measure the clearance between the front cover and the outer gear (4) and internal gear (3).
Normal Clearance:
- Inner gear: 0.050-0.090mm
- Outer Gear: 0.050-0.110mm
Clearance in the lower section between the front cover and the inner gear
Calculate the bottom clearance between the inner gear and the oil pump housing as follows:
Using a bore gauge, measure the inner diameter of the bottom section of the oil pump housing (position 5).
Using a micrometer, measure the outer diameter of the lower section of the inner gear (position 6).
(Gap) = (The inner diameter of the lower section of the oil pump housing) - (Outer diameter of the lower section of the internal gear)
- Normal clearance: 0.045-0.091mm
