Removing
1. Set the temperature control to maximum, turn the mode selector to «DEF» (manual air conditioner).
2. Discharge the refrigerant into the recovery/recharge unit (for HFC-134a).
3. Drain the engine coolant, see Sec. Lubrication system and engine cooling system.
4. Loosen the clamps shown in the figure, disconnect the heater hoses from the cooling-blower assembly. Seal the hoses with a cloth to prevent coolant from spilling out. Clog the coolant inlets with rags (2 places) to the core of the heater.
Attention:
- When the hose is disconnected from the heater, some coolant will spill.
- Clog the coolant inlets with rags (2 places) to the core of the heater.
5. Disconnect the low and high pressure pipes and remove the evaporator.
Attention:
- Do not allow coolant to enter the expansion valve.
- Seal the openings of the tubes to keep air out.
6. Remove the instrument panel assembly.
7. Remove blower assembly.
8. Disconnect the wiring clamp and remove the mounting stand.
9. Disconnect the connectors of the mixing damper and blower damper drives.
Attention: Air damper actuator: Disconnect the wiring connector from the side of the body and the intermediate wiring.
10. Turn off fixing bolts and nuts of a beam of a steering column and remove clips. Move the beam to the rear of the car and remove it.
11. Turn off fixing bolts and remove the block of cooling blowing.
Installation
Attention:
- When removing the cooling-pressure unit, some coolant will spill.
- Replace hose O-rings or low pressure tubes and high pressure tubes. Lubricate them with compressor oil before installation.
