Checking for Leaks
Check the areas adjacent to the transfer case (oil seal, drain plug, filler plug, transfer case housing, etc.) for signs of leaks.
Checking the oil level
1. Remove filler plug (1) with padding. Make sure the oil is filled to the bottom of the filler hole (A).
Attention. Do not reuse gasket.
Oil drain
1. Drive the vehicle to warm up the transfer case sufficiently.
2. Stop the engine and remove the drain plug (1) with a gasket to drain the oil.
Attention. Do not remove plug (2) holes to check the meshing contact in the teeth.
3. Before installing the drain plug, install a new gasket, then insert the plug into the transfer case opening and tighten to 35 Nm.
Attention. Do not reuse cork gasket.
Oil filling
1. Remove filler plug (1) with padding. Fill with oil until it starts to flow out of the filler hole (oil level (A) should be at the bottom edge of the filling hole).
Attention. Fill oil slowly (refueling time should take approximately three minutes).
2. Leave the car for three minutes, then check the engine oil level again.
3. Install a new gasket on the plug of the filling hole, then tighten the plug to 35 Nm.
Attention. Do not reuse cork gasket.
