Camshaft runout
1. Place the Y-blocks on a perfectly flat table and lay the camshaft on them with journals No. 2 and 4.
Attention. Do not interfere with the camshaft on the support neck Na1 (from the side of the camshaft pulley), since its diameter differs from the diameters of the other four necks.
2. Install dial indicator (A) vertically on neck #3.
3. Turning the camshaft one turn by hand, measure the runout of the camshaft with a dial indicator (indicator reading from one extreme position to another).
4. If the measured value exceeds the limit (see section "Service data and specification" at the end of the chapter), replace the camshaft with a new one.
Camshaft lobe height
1. Micrometer (A) measure the height of the cam.
2. If the measured value exceeds the limit (see section "Service data and specification" at the end of the chapter), replace the camshaft with a new one.
Camshaft end play
1. Install the camshaft.
2. Install the camshaft covers.
3. Using a dial gauge, measure the end play of the camshaft (see section "Service data and specification" at the end of the chapter).
Valve lifters
1. Measure the outer diameter of the valve lifter (see section "Service data and specification" at the end of the chapter).
2. Measure the inner diameter of the tappet hole in the cylinder head (see section "Service data and specification" at the end of the chapter), (www.monolith.in.ua)
3. Calculate the clearance in the valve lifter:
(Valve lifter clearance) = (Valve tappet inner diameter) - (Valve lifter diameter)
Compare the received value with the standard (see section "Service data and specification" at the end of the chapter).
