1. Using a scraper, remove the gasket from the surface of the cylinder block, and also remove engine oil, scale, soot and other contaminants.
Attention. See to it that I don't» ingress of gasket residues into the channels of the lubrication or cooling system in the cylinder block.
2. Using a straight edge (A) and a set of flat probes (IN) measure the deformation of the upper surface of the cylinder block at several points in six directions.
Note. If the measured values exceed the limits, replace the cylinder block with a new one.
