Attention.
- It is forbidden to continue driving the car when the engine overheats, as this can lead to engine ignition and fire.
- Do not open the hood if steam is coming out of the engine compartment.
- Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Otherwise, overheated coolant may splash out and cause burns, eye damage, and other serious injury.
- If steam comes out of the engine cooling system or coolant spills out, keep a safe distance from the vehicle to avoid burns.
- When a certain coolant temperature is reached, the cooling fan turns on.
- Be careful not to get your hands, hair, jewelry, or clothing caught in the spinning area of the fan blades or on the belt pulleys.
1. Observing safety measures, turn off the carriageway to the side of the road.
2. Turn on the alarm.
3. Apply the parking brake.
4. On a vehicle with a manual transmission, shift into neutral. If the car is equipped with an automatic transmission or a manual transmission, move the selector to the position «R» («Parking»).
Attention. Do not silence the activist.
5. Open all windows.
6. Turn off the air conditioner (if it exists).
7. Set the maximum heating mode for the air entering the passenger compartment. Turn on the heater fan to maximum air supply.
8. Get out of the car.
9. Before opening the hood, visually and aurally check for steam and coolant leaks from the radiator. Wait until steam escape or coolant flow stops completely.
10. Open the hood.
11. Make sure the cooling fan is running.
12. Visually inspect the radiator and hoses for signs of coolant leakage.
Attention. Stop the engine immediately if a coolant leak is detected, the drive belt is loose or missing, or if the fan is not running.
13. After the engine has cooled down, check the coolant level in the expansion tank (with the engine running). Do not remove the radiator cap.
14. If necessary remove a cover of a broad tank and slowly add in it a cooling liquid. Add liquid up to the mark «MAX» on the wall of the expansion tank, close the cap.
Attention. To avoid burns, before removing the expansion tank cap, cover it with a rag and unscrew the cap to the first notch to allow pressurized vapors to escape.
15. Close the hood.
