Checking the installed generator
During normal driving, the charge control lamp should go out. Otherwise, the fault lies in the generator or voltage regulator. First, check the electrical connections of the generator.
Check if the drive belt is properly tensioned. Further verification can only be carried out on the removed alternator.
Removal and installation
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect the cable plug from the back of the generator. Disconnect the wire from a separate terminal.
3. Loosen the drive belt tensioner, as described in Chapter Ongoing care and maintenance and loosen both alternator mounting bolts.
4. Push the alternator inward and remove the belt.
5. Take out a bolt of fastening of the generator on the lower party and take out the generator. The generator is installed in the reverse order. Insert the belt into the grooves of the belt pulley and press the alternator outward in the suspension. While holding the alternator in this position, tighten the tension bracket bolt.
6. Check belt tension and adjust if necessary as described in the appropriate chapter.
