Annually or every 20,000 km.
Protective covers of drive shafts are very important elements, because they protect the constant velocity joints (SHRUS) against dirt, water and other foreign objects causing damage. External contamination of protective covers with oil and grease can lead to premature failure of the material of the covers, so it is recommended to periodically wash the covers with soap and water.
1. Inspect boots for tears, cracks, and loose clamps. If there are signs of cracks or leakage of lubricant, the cover must be replaced.
2. Gently feel the driveshaft boots for cracks.
