Engine electrical systems — general information

The electrical equipment of the engine includes all components of the ignition, starting and charging systems. In view of the fact that, in terms of their functional purpose, these components are directly related to the operation of the engine, they are considered separately from the components of the on-board electrical equipment, such as lighting, controls, wipers / washers, etc.

Attention! When working on electrical equipment, certain safety precautions should always be observed:

• It is unacceptable to leave the ignition on for a long time with the engine off.
• Under no circumstances should the wires be disconnected from the battery while the engine is running.
• When connecting wires from an auxiliary power source for emergency starting of the engine, polarity must be strictly observed.
• The negative cable should always be disconnected from the battery first and connected last to avoid a short circuit if the tool accidentally touches the ground while loosening/tightening the positive terminal clamp.
