Attention! The current maintenance schedule that is offered to the attention of readers applies to vehicles operated under normal conditions. When operating the vehicle under any of the following conditions, service intervals should be reduced by at least 5%:
- Operation in conditions of strong dust, dirt and exposure to aggressive environments;
- Frequent trips in the cold season for a distance not exceeding 8 km;
- Frequent long-distance travel at low speeds or with long periods of engine idling.
Weekly or every 1,000 km (every time you fill up your car with fuel)
1. Check engine oil level. Add if necessary.
2. Check the coolant level. Add if necessary.
3. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder. Add if necessary.
4. Check the fluid level of the power steering system. Add if necessary.
5. Check the GTZ fluid level. Add if necessary.
6. Check the electrolyte level in the battery (at least once a month). Add distilled water if necessary.
7. Check and adjust tire inflation pressure (with cold wheels). At the same time, it makes sense to visually assess the degree of tread wear and the presence of foreign objects stuck in it. Tire condition evaluation chart is given in the section on tire troubleshooting.
Once every 6 months or every 10,000 km
1. Change engine oil and oil filter.
2. Check a condition of components of system of release of the fulfilled gases.
3. Check the condition of the air cleaner element. If necessary, clean the element or replace it.
4. Check the free travel of the clutch pedal. Make adjustments if necessary. also check that the clutch is working properly.
5. Check the hydraulic clutch system for signs of leakage and broken lines due to material aging.
6. Check the oil level in the transmission and transfer case.
7. Check the oil level in the differentials of both axles.
8. Assess the degree of wear of the crosses of the cardan shafts, stuff the joints with grease.
9. Check the condition of the ball joints of the drive rods of the steering, stuff them with grease.
10. Check the power steering hydraulic system for signs of leaks and deterioration of hoses due to material aging.
11. Check the condition of the brake pads, discs, calipers and hydraulic lines. Check the hydraulic system for signs of leaks.
12. Check the proper operation of the foot and parking brakes.
13. Check the proper functioning of all on-board electrical equipment, including the horn, lighting, windshield wipers and washers. Lubricate the hinges and locks of all doors.
Once a year or every 20,000 km
All of the above checks, plus:
1. Check the condition and tension of the drive belts in the engine compartment. If necessary, replace or adjust the tension.
2. On 4.2L models, check valve clearances and make any necessary adjustments.
3. Check the condition of all cooling/heating hoses. Make the necessary replacements.
4. Check idle speed and mixture settings. Make adjustments if necessary.
5. Check the proper functioning of the starting automation / air damper drive.
6. Check the correct functioning of the controlled crankcase ventilation system (PCV).
7. Check the correct functioning of the automatic control device for heating the air sucked into the air cleaner.
8. Check the condition of the disengageable hubs and front wheel bearings. If necessary, fill them with grease.
9. Check the condition of the steering damper.
10. On vehicles equipped with drum brakes, check the condition of the shoes, drums and wheel cylinders. Make the necessary replacements.
11. Replace spark plugs.
12. On 4.2 l models, replace the distributor breaker contacts.
13. Tighten bolts of fastening of elements of a body.
14. Check the condition, reliability of fastening and serviceability of functioning of anchors, buckles and returnable mechanisms of seat belts. Assess the degree of wear of the belts.
15. Check wheel alignment. Rotate or balance the wheels if necessary.
Once every 2 years or every 40,000 km
All of the above checks, plus:
1. Empty the cooling system, flush it and fill it with fresh coolant.
2. Replace the air cleaner element.
3. Periodically remove the rubber cover from the pre-cleaning cyclone dust separator and remove accumulated dust from it. Once every 2 years, make sure to clean the cyclone dust separator.
4. Replace the fuel filter.
5. Check fuel lines and their fittings for signs of leaks. Replace defective components.
6. Replace the PCV filter.
7. Check the condition of the hoses and fittings of the evaporative emission system. Replace defective components.
8. Change hydraulic clutch fluid.
9. On models with a manual transmission Change the gear oil.
10. On models with AT, if the car is operated in stressful conditions (see warning at the beginning of Section), replace the ATF.
11. Change the transfer case oil.
12. Replace the fluid in the differentials of both axles.
13. Pack wheel bearings and front axle drive shaft joints.
14. Check the condition of the vacuum hoses and the brake booster control valve.
15. Check the condition of the BB wires, make the necessary replacements.
