Note. The following procedures require a special coil spring compression tool.
Removing
Rear Suspension Coil Spring Components
1 - saddle
2 - spring
1. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it on jack stands under the chassis frame.
2. Raise the rear axle housing with a jack under its central part. It is necessary to completely unload the shock absorbers.
3. Disconnect the stabilizer bar from the end of its bar. Disconnect the differential breather hose.
4. Give the top and bottom fixing nuts and disconnect the bottom support of the shock-absorber from the bridge.
5. Carefully lower the bridge assembly just enough to allow the coil spring to be removed.
6. Check up a spring on existence of cracks, deformations and easing of the developed effort. If possible, compare the parameters of the removed spring with the new one.
7. Check the compression stroke stop for damage and signs of material ageing. In case of need give fixing bolts and replace the limiter.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order.
1. Make sure that the upper spring seat is correctly positioned when the axle is raised.
2. Screw on the shock absorber mounting nuts, having previously checked the condition of the rubber bushings.
3. Tighten the shock absorber mounting nuts with a force of 30 ÷ 40 Nm after the entire weight of the car has been transferred to its wheels.
