Epiploon of a leading gear wheel of the main transfer
1. Drain the oil from the gearbox housing.
2. Raise the front of the car and place it on stands.
3. Disconnect the cardan shaft from the flange of the front gearbox.
4. Loosen the reducer nut (photo), by screwing the bolts into the flange and resting it with a screwdriver.
8.4 Loosen the nut and remove the flange and gland
1. Guide bearing bushing; 2. guide bearing; 3. Oil seal; 4. Reducer flange; 5. Reducer housing
5. Press the reducer flange (photo).
8.5 Removing the flange from the final drive gear
6. Pry and carefully remove the stuffing box.
7. Put universal grease into the stuffing box and press it into the crankcase with a mandrel.
8. Put on the flange, wrap and tighten the reducer nut to the specified torque.
9. Using a torque wrench with a scale of several Nm, check the moment of resistance to turning the drive gear of the gearbox by turning the nut clockwise. The moment is equal to the preload in the bearings. If the torque is less than normal, then tighten the nut. If the torque exceeds the norm, the bearing spacer will be damaged, the gearbox should be disassembled and the sleeve replaced.
10. Remaining operations are carried out in reverse order.
