2. Turn away bolts of fastening of a flywheel (torque converter drive disc) to the crankshaft, unbending the lock washers and resting the screwdriver on the ring gear to fix it from turning (photo).
21.2 Removing the flywheel
3. Carefully remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.
4. Turn away bolts and remove a back strengthening plate of the engine (photo). Check for oil leaks from the rear plugs. On 4x4 vehicles, apply sealant.

5. Check the integrity of the crown teeth, if the flywheel is severely damaged (disk) replace.
6. The procedure for checking the flywheel is described in Ch. 8.
7. Clean the surfaces of the crankshaft and flywheel.
8. Install reinforcement plate.
9. Install the flywheel, replacing the lining.
10. Tighten the bolts in a cross pattern.
11. Remaining operations are carried out in reverse order.
